Welcome to the Sunday Evening Sofa! (from the Small Stories about Big Things newsletter)
With each Sunday Evening Sofa you receive an insightful or motivational quote (or two) and one question for reflection.
My hope? Maybe you can lean back onto your Sunday evening sofa with…
a bit more encouragement,
a bit more calm,
and a helpful question or two sitting with your soul.
QUOTES
“I took a walk in the woods and came out taller than the trees.”
― Henry David Thoreau
"I must confess, though, that I sometimes lose interest in the characters and get much more interested in the trees and animals. I think I exercise tremendous restraint in this, but my editor says, ‘Would you stop this beauty business.’ And I say, ‘Wait, wait until I tell you about these ants…
…. At some point in life, the world's beauty becomes enough.”
- Toni Morrison
QUESTION
What if a walk in the woods was our best teacher this week?
Or an evening on the porch in the country listening to the birds, the coyotes and seeing the sun set with pinks & purples and smelling the singed grass from weeks of high temps? Yes, finding the praise of the cattle lowing and the strumming of the crickets. Let all of God’s creation share in His love
I feel my closest to God in a forest. I'm awed by his talent to create such beauty. We are such lucky creatures to have all this for us to see, hear, smell and appreciate.
