In terms of the Christian faith, I think of this in terms of gifts - where and how do we experience the Holy Spirit moving most fully and powerfully through us? Usually this is known in our gifts (and oftentimes we don't know they are gifts because they are just what we do 'naturally').
More precisely, I think our gifts can feel especially alive when given in service of a calling that God has on our lives - whether that is the fundamental calling to follow Jesus and witness to God's Kingdom - or a more precise version of that calling that might unfold for a year or a season or a few decades (like a job, marriage, service endeavor, community activity etc).
I say this because there is simply something about walking by faith (and not simply doing what everyone says you 'should' do or feels safest/easiest/most controllable etc) that has a vitalizing/animating effect on one's being. We were made to offer our Holy Spirit-inspired-and-nourished gifts and we were made to walk by faith - put them together and that is very much an Alive reality.
I’m still thinking about this. Why is it so hard to know what the answer of what causes one to come alive?

Thoughtful stuff here, my friend.
Probably a lot of ways one could probe some of this, for sure... Thanks, Eric!
